2009 Whispering Dragons Digital Magazine Flash Fiction Contest Guidelines

To celebrate the birth of Whispering Dragons Digital Magazine, we are running a flash fiction contest. The Flash Fiction Contest is open for submissions now and the reading period ends on August 31st , 2009. We will award prizes and post the pdf edition of the magazine on September 20th, 2009.

The rules:

All flash fiction must be under 1,000 words. Stories from the genres of Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Mythology/Legend based are welcome.

Multiple submissions are allowed. Please be sure to use a separate email for each submission.

We do allow simultaneous submissions, as long as we're informed that it is one.

Reprints are allowed.

Submissions for the flash fiction contest need to be sent to twodragonswhispering (at) gmail (dot) com as an RTF (Rich Text Format) attachment. DO NOT send them within the body of the e-mail.

When submitting, please put "Flash Fiction Contest" in the subject line.

Please include the following in the e-mail body:

• Your Name
• Title of Submission
• Word Count
• Your e-mail address
• A short author bio

We welcome e-mails that serve as cover letters introducing us to you and your submission.

Please only include the title on the first page of your submission file, with no other information. All submissions are presented to the judging editors without any author information.

We do not have an autoresponder. Updates will post on the DCH Design and Publication weblog. If no update is posted, feel free to send a query e-mail to twodragonswhispering (at) gmail (dot) com - use the subject title "query" so we do not mistake it for spam.

Follow the formatting requirements below:

• Block paragraphs, single spaced, with double line breaks in between the paragraphs.
• Title should be centered and bold.
• We only need the title on your submission.
• Our text detail requests are "what you see is what you get". Italicize words that are to be in italics. Bold words you wish to be bolded. Underline words that are to be underlined.
• Edit your stories for errors, typos, grammar, and punctuation. A clean manuscript is easier to read and less stressful. We strongly suggest joining a workshop and revising your story before presenting it to us.
